Hot work in a finished house, without the damage.

Much of this work happens in homes people are already living in. The steel is the straightforward part — protecting what surrounds it is the job.

  • Protected before anything starts Treads, floors, stone and trim are masked and covered before any grinding or hot work begins.
  • Sparks stay contained Welding blankets and screens around the work area, so spatter and grinding dust don't travel through the house.
  • Swept and cleared daily The area is cleaned at the end of each day, not just at the end of the job.
  • One person, start to finish You deal with the same person who measured, built and installed it. Scheduled arrival times, and a call if anything changes.

How a job runs

Four steps, in order. The design step is optional and priced separately.

  1. Step 1

    Site visit and measure

    I come to the property, measure the opening and talk through what you want it to look like.

  2. Step 2

    SketchUp model — optional

    See the piece in the space before any steel is cut. Available on request for an additional fee.

  3. Step 3

    Shop built or site built

    Fabricated in the shop where that gives a cleaner result, or cut and welded in place where the house demands it.

  4. Step 4

    Finished and cleared

    Welds dressed, corners deburred, no rough edges anywhere you'd put a hand. Coverings pulled and the area left clean.
